🏠 Triangle Veterans: Are You Using the Homebuying Benefit You Earned?
Quick question for my veteran friends in Raleigh, Cary, Durham, and the Triangle:
When you bought (or looked at buying) your home, did anyone sit down and show you BOTH your VA loan option AND a conventional loan side-by-side?
Most don't.
Here's what I'm seeing in 2025:
→ Veterans putting down 5-10% when they could do $0 down
→ Paying monthly PMI when VA loans don't require it
→ Getting outbid because listing agents think VA loans are "complicated"
→ Working with lenders who rarely close VA loans
The math is brutal. On a $450K home in Apex, that's often $20K+ out of pocket and an extra $200-300/month.
I just wrote the complete Triangle VA loan playbook that breaks down:
✅ What you can actually afford (not just the rate)
✅ Real VA vs conventional numbers for Wake County
✅ How to get pre-approved in 24-48 hours
✅ Why the "VA loans are slow" myth is costing you money
If you earned this benefit, you should at least know how it compares to what you're being offered.
